Naked & Afraid

We get close and personal.. but not too close!! .. with Discovery's infamous series as it comes to Thailand.

Well, we're quite glad to be out of the bush!

Local Fixers Asia spent 2 months researching and scouting for suitable hardship locations, and then another 2 months on location in jungle and remote islands, for the production of 2 episodes of Discovery's popular Naked & Afraid survivor show series.

The show chronicles the lives of two survivalists who meet for the first time on day 1 of the shoot, and are given the task of surviving a stay in the wilderness -- NAKED -- for 21 days.  After they meet in the assigned locale, the partners must find and/or produce water, food, shelter, and clothing within the environment.

Did we mention they were naked?

Obviously, the remoteness and/or seclusion of the location is very important.  And while this proved easy enough to achieve for the Jungle episode, it was a little more difficult with the Island of episode 2.   After visiting several paradise islands (the job has its perks), our fixer was able to nail down a suitable location closed off from civilization by thick jungle and vertical limestone cliffs.

As mentioned before, the entire shoot took just under 2 months.  Our team of production assistants, drivers, boatmen, jungle experts, park rangers and medics spent the entire time staying nearby the survivalists, although in arguably more comfortable accommodations.

Naked & Afraid can be seen on the Discovery Channel.  The Thailand episode should air some time in 2015.  More information can be had on their official site
